暨南研究生学术讲坛第十一讲：Transatlantic Hawthorne: The Minister's Black Veil and Islam

 纳撒尼尔·霍桑（Nathaniel Hawthorne，1804－1864），美国浪漫主义小说家。《教长的黑面纱》运用了“寓言手法，成为一篇内容深刻的文学创作。 （http://baike.baidu.com/view/13957.htm ）”讲座主要讲述霍桑的短篇小说《教长的黑面纱》，从文学的角度分析作者霍桑的身世背景和写作特点，以及探寻该篇小说中的伊斯兰教主义思想。
 
主讲嘉宾简介：美国Samford大学霍华德艺术与科学学院副院长: Rosemary Fisk教授
Professor Rosemary Fisk earned an M.A. from Duke University and a Ph.D. from Rice University before joining the faculty at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 1984. Currently she is on sabbatical as a Fulbright Scholar at Lingnan University, Hong Kong, where she is working on the 334 General Education Reform Project that will take Hong Kong’s public universities to a four-year system in 2012. Since 2001, when she became associate dean of the Howard College of Arts and Sciences at Samford, she has directed the core curriculum and general education programs. A scholar of 19th-century American literature, Professor Fisk serves as president-elect of the Nathaniel Hawthorne Society and will become president in 2012. She has authored numerous articles and the two-volume Cultural Perspectives: A Sourcebook, used in interdisciplinary core classes. Students in the Honors program at Samford created the Outstanding Professor Award and named her the first recipient.
